Refractories

Refractory compounds are ceramic products and materials with an operating temperature of usually 600-1700° C.

The main components include various oxygen compounds such as silicon oxide, aluminium oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, zirconium oxide and chromium oxide, carbon and silicon carbide. This also includes tungsten and molybdenum (so-called refractory metals) as well as precious metals and their alloys due to their high melting points and chemical resistance to slags and melts. Despite their resilience to environmental impact and high temperatures, refractory products are often subject to severe wear and tear.

The main areas of application are therefore:

  • Linings of blast furnaces, channel furnaces and cupolas
  • Linings of holding furnaces and casting furnaces or forehearths
  • Prefabricated, ready-to-install prefabricated components for induction crucible furnaces
  • Complete inserts such as prefabricated bars
  • Shaping tools
